The-Bar-End.com uses the Apache HTTP server to host websites. This is an
open-source HTTP server for modern operating systems. The goal of the
Apache HTTP server project is to provide a secure, efficient, and
extensible server that provides HTTP services in sync with the current
HTTP standards. Apache has been the most popular web server in the
internet since 1996.
Technologies incorporated in the Apache HTTP Server include:
- MySQL 2.2.14 + PBXT engine
- PHP 5.3.1
- Perl 5.10.1
To allow you to upload your pages to your website we use the FileZilla
FTP Server. FileZilla offers lots of features including:
- Easy to use
- Supports resume and transfer of large files
- Synchronised directory browsing
- Remote File search
- Remote File editing
Although you may use any FTP client of your choosing to connect to the FTP
Server, it is recommended that you use the FileZilla FTP client to connect
to the FileZilla FTP server. The FileZilla Client can be downloaded free
of charge from the
FileZilla-project.
It should be noted that all servers need to be set up manually with your
hosting details before your free hosting account can become active. Access
to the MySQL database will be instigated as required, please let us know
if you need a database facility for your website.
A help facility will be instigated by use of an online discussion board.
